One of my LARP characters just learned a new path in the game - a form of ritualized magic that requires extended role-play to perform.  A simple ritual is five to ten minutes, a complex one can be up to a half hour of focused and dedicated actions to produce the desired effect in the game. On one level, it's a powerful skill list that lets me make cool shit for my PC and his buddies.  On the other, it's a massive potential for fantastic RP, from the actual ceremony to the props, theory, and interactions needed to perform them.  I'm going to begin collecting a series of props and such to support the rituals, which will become a new branch of

One of my character's I've been playing off and on for almost 15 years now is a Gypsy named Carlos.  Carlos is... well, a fantasy-themed Gypsy.  Take Inigo Montoya, slap some coin belts and a sense of humor on him, dye him purple, and let him go.  It's... interesting to play him. With several of my characters, they hit points where they simply are done.  Their story is over, they want to retire, and I let them.  Carlos... not so much.  He wanders into and out of my life, much like he wanders into and out of the lives of those around him.  Hell, he's MY fictional creation, and I can't even keep tabs on him.  (Is this what having kids is like?
